LEGO® Education SPIKE™ Prime

The Lego Education Spike Prime set is a set of Lego bricks and accessories that can be used to teach students the basics of coding and STEAM skills. The set includes:

• A Large Hub, which is a programmable control unit that can connect to Lego sensors and motors. It has two input/output ports, a six-axis gyro sensor, a button with a light indicator, and Bluetooth and USB connectivity.
• Three motors, which can be used to power Lego models and make them move. They can be controlled by the Large Hub and the coding app. There are two Medium Angular Motors and one Large Angular Motor.
• Three sensors, can detect colors, light, distance, force, and movement. They can be used to create interactive models and games with the Large Hub and the coding app.
• There is one Color Sensor, one Distance Sensor, and one Force Sensor.
• 528 Lego bricks, including various System and Technic parts, gears, wheels, axles, connectors, and two minifigures. They can be used to build various models and scenarios that support the STEAM lessons.
• A durable storage box with color-coded sorting trays for easy classroom management.
• A Micro USB cable for charging the Large Hub battery and connecting it to a computer.
  
• The set also comes with a free app that features icon- and word-based coding based on Scratch. The app helps students develop their coding skills and create programs for their models. The set also offers eight units of STEAM lessons, each with online lesson plans, math and language arts extensions, assessment rubrics, and videos. The lessons are aligned with educational standards and encourage independent and collaborative problem-solving.

The durable storage box and 2 sorting trays keep setup and clean-up time to a minimum, and the smaller trays are ideal for when desk space is limited.
The LEGO® Education SPIKE™ App offers a simple introduction to programming with intuitive word-block coding based on Scratch. Then, as students build their skills, they can explore text-based coding with Python.
In addition to the Getting Started material, the SPIKE App comes with 5-unit plans of standards-aligned STEAM content focussing on data science, engineering, and computer science optimised for 45-minute classes.

The SPIKE Prime set is compatible with the Raspberry Pi Build HAT.
